Unicorn travel to Gauteng and return to the place of origin

Visit to the Sterkfontein caves by the Grade 6 learners of Unicorn Preparatory school.

The annual Unicorn Grade 6 tour took place from 24 to 26 April and the tour kicked off with a visit to the Sterkfontein caves.

The Maropeng tour(the official visitor centre of the Cradle of Humankind meaning “returning to the place of origin” in Setswana, the main indigenous language in this area of South Africa) was very interactive and proper star gazing was done at night.

An underground tour at Gold Reef City was a first for many of the children and the story of gold gave South African history more context.

There was also some free time where the young people could do some of the rides on offer.

Culturally the children were enriched when they attended a show at Monte Casino and this year it was “The Sound of Music”, which is considered a classic.

A sincere word of thanks goes to Mrs Alison Westcott who was the tour organiser.
