It is alleged that two girls asked for a lift from a man in a BMW in the late hours of Wednesday, April 4.

They requested a lift from Lulekani to their homes, communication officer, Constable Mabunda, said in a statement.

“They got a lift with the BMW and instead of the driver taking them home he drove to the bushes,” he said.

“Apparently the suspect allegedly climbed out of the vehicle with one of the girls and he forced her to lie down and proceeded to rape her before abandoning both the girls in the bushes,” he said.

After driving away, the police were informed and the man was arrested.

“He was found near his residential area, together with the identified vehicle and was arrested,” Constable Mabunda continued.

The suspect’s name together with his residential area will not be disclosed until he has appeared before the court of law, in order to protect the identity of the victim.

The police said that they are strongly condemning the conduct of the suspect.

“Instead of him playing the role of a father figure, he decided to violate the rights of the vulnerable girl,” stated Constable Mabunda.
