Nkowankowa Court opens playground

PLAY-TIME: Bright Morning Star Nursery School's learners running towards the Nkowankowa Magistarate Court Playground to play for the first time.

The opening of the playground was part of the Mandela month initiative.

The play area will mainly be used by child witnesses and victims and also kids who came with their parents in the court.

Several magistrate courts in the Limpopo Province have already built playground areas in their courts, Lenyenye Magistrate Court opened theirs on July 19.

“I’am extremely proud of my regional magistrates who came up with this idea to make our courts more child friendly, and our province is one of the first provinces to have started with this kind of project and I know more playgrounds are still in the pipeline,” said Jackie Wessels, Regional Court President in Limpopo.

The employees of Nkowankowa Magistrate Court contributed some monies towards the play area and they also got sponsors from local businesses.

The learners from Bright Morning Star Nursery School were the honoured guests as they were invited to be the first to use the playground.

Their laughs and giggles described the amount of fun and joy they had.

“We feel honoured to be witnesses of the opening of the playground and as our motto says “We learn by playing”, said Founder and Principal of Bright Morning Star Nursery School.

The occasion was honoured by different heavy weights in the Department of Justice in the province.

“The playground was a good idea because it will help the kids to feel more comfortable,”said Motlaba Kganyago, Regional Magistrate in Nkowankowa Magistrate Court.
