According to various news sources, a wildlife centre worker, Silence Mabunda, was run over with a 4×4 vehicle in Hoedspruit in December.

Police initially believed it to be a hit-and-run incident‚ but after further investigation a case of attempted murder was opened.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said that Scott-Crossley was not a suspect‚ though a warrant for his arrest was issued on December 21.

According to a new police statement issued today, Scott-Crossley’s lawyer went to the police station to negotiate a bail application.

‘However, once the suspect is brought in, he will be arrested and go through the process like any other suspect. We are aware of the suspect’s rights in terms of bail application, no process will be overlooked for purposes of giving any individual preferential treatment,” said Mojapelo.
